5 Week Improvers Pottery Course

Mon Eve 

An evening course to develop your skills on the potters wheel, expanding your skill base. 

6.30-8.30pm

Covering skills like wedging, collaring, joining, attachments, larger weights, lids, slipwork & stampmaking. 

Week 1 - Collaring. learning to improve control of clay by collaring in your pieces creating bottles and narrow shapes. 

Week 2 - Lid making, covering a variation of lid styles. This skill encourages you to throw to precise measurements. 

Week 3 - Larger Throwing, increasing the weight of the clay you use on the wheel as you get more comfortable with smaller work. 

Week 4 - Attachments/Joining, learn how to combine and join your thrown pieces to make more complicated shapes and improve your understanding of clay's drying stages. 

Week 5 - Slipwork/Decoration, the final week will give you a chance to learn some decorative techniques to add your pieces.

Who is this course for?

The course is designed for anyone who has some experience of wheel throwing, having taken part in a course or spent some time on the wheel with an understanding of basic throwing techniques. No perfection is expected!

Cancellation with full refund is offered up to one week before course commencement. After this credit is offered or participants can send someone in their place.
